The 28th Canadian Ethnic Studies Association (CESA) Biennial Conference is taking place October 9-10 this year. We anticipate this conference to be a wonderful opportunity for us to present and circulate our work!
June 2026
We are excited to announce that we are organizing a session on the “State and Future of Ethnic Media in Canada” at the Canadian Sociological Meetings in Halifax, Nova Scotia for June 11. The participants in this session are: Brian Daly, Leah Hamilton and Ran Jun, Alexandros Balasis, Luís Aguiar, Farrah Bérubé, and Carlos Teixeira.

We are happy to be a part of two sessions on Portuguese media in the Diaspora at the upcoming Conference of Lusophone Association Studies to be held at UBCO, 14-16 May 2026. Farrah Bérubé, Carlos Teixeira, and Luís Aguiar are participating and will be inviting researchers and media personalities from across the diaspora.

We are pleased to have presented “Excited Pessimism: Portuguese Ethnic Media Owners Respond to Challenges to their Media in Montreal” At the Lusophone Association Annual Meeting, Porto, Portugal, 27 June 2025. Our researchers, Farrah Bérubé, Carlos Teixeira, and Luís Aguiar delivered their work during this conference.
